No Waterfall for Moonhawk and MoonCove

Upon searching for “waterfall” on my Maps app, the closest result was Wolf Creek Waterfall in Palestine. I was pretty excited because Palestine is only an hour away.

This morning, Kovi and I left for Wolf Creek Lake around ten. I had searched for the waterfall specifically, and we ended up at the Palestine airport with the GPS basically telling us to venture into the woods.

Instead, I followed a road that wrapped around the Wolf Creek area and ended up at the official Wolf Creek Lake park. I drove around and didn’t see any trails, so we parked and I decided to just search for the waterfall, on foot, with Maps.

Where we parked, and the entire park, was on the opposite side of where Maps was telling me the waterfall is. Since I couldn’t see a trail, we just walked to the side of the lake and began making our way to the opposite side.

We quickly crossed over a dam and then faced dense woods. Following my GPS, Kovi and I entered the thick brush. The thorn level in these woods has to compose over half of the vegetation within. Kovi quickly grew tired of this sticky trek but we kept pushing anyway. Not wanting to get lost, we stayed close to the lake so I knew where we were the whole time.

It started out simple but fast forward an hour and we were still searching for this waterfall after crossing a muddy creek and getting stuck with thorny vines every 2 feet. By the way, we still hadn’t seen this mysterious waterfall.

We hit a point when we came to the actual Wolf Creek crossover point, but the water was far too deep for me to walk across and for Kovi to swim across. Maps had already said we were right beside, in front of, on top of, and passed the waterfall. Apparently we walked a circle around it and totally missed it. Who knows?

At that point I could tell Kovi was ready to get out of the woods and into open air so we set out to back track since we couldn’t cross Wolf Creek.

When I checked Maps, I saw that we were pretty close to the airport from earlier, so we headed that way instead of trying to trek through the thorn haven again.

We cut through more vines (with our bodies) and eventually reached a large hill. We climbed up and at the top was the wood-less city airport. Walking along the wood line to avoid any suspicious stares, Kovi and I found the road that led to Wolf Creek Lake and we started our final stretch back to the car.

It was probably another hour of walking, but at least it was painless without thorn needles pricking every inch of my skin.

Finally, we got back to the car. Kovi and I drank some water and loaded up to head home. On the way out, I spotted a little clearing that might have been the opening of a trail…

…However, I felt Kovi’s desire to leave as she spread out in the back seat to nap. I was also starving.

Maybe next time, waterfall. Mysterious, hidden, annoying waterfall. Stick to the trails, friends.

362 – Always Us Against the World

Remember when it was just you and me against the world, Collin?

Hey, little man. I want you to know it still is. We’re a team, bud. We’ll always be a team no matter how many companions we add to our pack.

We have a special bond, you and I. A special relationship no one else could understand. It’s us against the world, now and forever.

You’re my boy and you came to me when I needed you most. We needed each other, little guy. You with that beautiful black shiny coat and me with my beautiful black shiny soul. We were destined to find one another.

So please don’t be jealous or think I’ve forgotten our time spent alone together. You’re mine and I’m yours, boy. It’s us against the world until the end of time.

357 – Loving Pets Too Much

It is both a blessing and a curse to love these animals so very deeply.

When they pass on, it’s a silver bullet through my sensitive heart. I mourn like a mother mourns a lost child. It’s pain so excruciating I wonder why I ever get myself into these vulnerable situations.

But when they’re here – oh man, it’s all worth it. All those kisses and warm feelings, seeing how excited they get when I get back home, wagging tails, soft cuddles, long walks – it adds so much joy to life. Companionship, loyalty, bonds…family.

Yes, it’s painful when they go. And it hurts when they’re no longer around. But every ounce of pain is worth every moment of joy and happiness they brought into my life.

Thank you, furry companions – past, present, and future – for the heartwarming happiness you have / will have given me.

356 – Dogs vs. People

8:19 a.m.) Dogs will be dogs. People will be people. And that one is much worse, if we’re all being honest. People are so unpredictable.

Thinking about the recent case in the news of a murdered young woman, people are so volatile. I mean, the boyfriend may not have done it in this case – no one knows for sure yet – but there are hundreds of cases where a couple is married or together for years without obvious signs of violence before one snaps and murders the other. Sometimes it seems to come out of absolutely nowhere.

It’s scary because everyone thinks they know the people around them well, but do we really have any idea?

Dogs are more consistent. I’ll stick with dogs. Cats, on the other hand – God only knows what they’re capable of. But at least they’re soft and adorable.

355 – The Soulsphere

I don’t think souls are earthly. The earth and the universe we are in – they’re just places we inhabit for awhile, you know.

Souls come from an entirely different plane of existence. A realm beyond all physical realms. It’s not material or concrete. It’s a form of matter far too complex for our earthly brains to comprehend.

The Soulsphere, perhaps, is what it is. It’s where all creations of the multiverse originate. It’s where all souls go to Rest In Peace before returning to a physical plane.

Beyond the universe, beyond the multiverse, and nowhere physically present to our human eyes – but our souls know it’s there somewhere.

Of course, it’s difficult to say anything exists without definite proof. I believe that’s another earthly trait – needing concrete evidence of every theory. We’re forced to follow our feelings and feelings are not always reliable.

Who knows? Soulsphere. Maybe so.

Not from this realm

343 – Bonded for Life

Our souls still have time left together – here on earth. You and I – we’re not done yet. We still have so many memories left to make, girl. I’m so lucky our souls crossed paths. We are eternally bonded.

Oh my Lady Vader Zader Bug, our story won’t end here. It has only just begun, beautiful girl. Beautiful soul. See more of Ladybug on ReconCove.com

342 – The World is Perception

The water looks exceptionally blue today. The sky is clear of clouds and the sun is out.

I think our reactions to the weather have to do with our attitudes.

Rain is nice when I’m gloomy.

Thunderstorms are nice in general.

Maybe I’m just dark.

I love the sun.

I’m a child of sun.

But something about that thunder and those dark clouds is so comforting.

Weather is perceptive.

So is everything else about the world.
